"ORCA (AWARE) ...is the most
user friendly, dynamic and useful computer system
that I have ever seen. We couldn't be more pleased."
~ Bobby Simpson, Agency Director
Vision
In adapting and implementing the AWARE
Case Management System, the Oregon Office of Vocational Rehabilitation
sought to use web-based technology to provide easier access to the
system, to support accessibility for all users and to accommodate
changing federal requirements.
Approach
In October 1996, the agency worked with Alliance to
expand and customize Washington's client-server system. Several years
later, the agency initiated a second project to upgrade to the web-based
AWARE Case Management System.
Results
When asked about the AWARE
project, agency staff emphasized the executive sponsorship and the
support, cooperation and leadership from their own agency teams and from
Alliance. Agency executives were pleased to report that the project
finished on schedule, under budget and within scope. According to the
Assistant Administrator, the agency employment outcome "soared" with the
implementation of the new case management system.
Today
As the second vocational
rehabilitation installation after the State of
Washington, the agency has been working with
Alliance since 1996. Currently they are active
members of the AWARE
Users Group with a significant contribution in the
area of Ticket to Work as first phase implementers
of the program. During 2004, the agency is a Beta
Test Site for the new Authorization History Logging
functionality.
