Lansing Michigan to New Stanton, Pennsylvania

.

Welcome to Ohio!

Travel Log ~ 9/08/2007

We left Lansing on a cloudy morning with rain and thunderstorms in the forecast. It takes us about 1 ˝ hours to shower, prep for travel (lunch, computers, etc) and prep the 5th wheel. By now, we have worked out our “jobs:” Rick takes the outside prep and Lisa the inside.

We drove about 400 miles today heading south to Ohio then east along the Ohio turnpike to Youngstown. The Ohio turnpike/toll road is very smooth and organized. They have periodic Service Plazas along the way with fuel (including a large diesel and parking area), bathrooms, gift shops, and fast food options. They also have picnic benches and areas to walk your pets. We also liked the Ohio turnpike because, unlike the Illinois toll road, you take a ticket when you enter and then pay only once when you exit.

Once we crossed the border into Pennsylvania, the PENN Turnpike starts. It took us just north of Pittsburg and then southeast to our destination in New Stanton, PA. The RV site was set in a rural area and there was even a breeze when we first arrived! Still hot but only in the 80’s today.
